The Brief

Whilst Macpactor’s business was booming offline, they’ve always struggled to make an impact digitally – especially in search engines. 

Therefore, Mac & Hat were contracted to perform SEO work on the website to make them more competitive in the organic search results with a strong focus on the broader search terms which represented their core products.

Examples of these include “compactor wheels” and “landfill compactor wheels”.

Plan of Action

After performing the usual competitor analysis and keyword research to benchmark Macpactor, it was clear from initial glances at the website that some major changes needed to be made from a Technical perspective first and foremost to make the website more friendly to Search Engines.

Therefore, Mac & Hat conducted a full in-depth website audit to iron out any detrimental factors. This included areas such as HTTPS migration, site structure changes and an XML sitemap audit – to name a few.

After this, we commenced with on-site content optimisation. This included optimising existing pages and creating new pages to make the website more appealing to its relevant search terms.


The results came in thick and fast, below are just some of the KPI improvements we made over the course of a few months.

The above graph plots Macpactor’s average rank across all of the tracked keywords that we monitored for the campaign. After optimisations went live, a positive correlation began to form.

The above graph plots the average rank for the search term “compactor wheels”, which was highlighted as the most important keyword and valuable keyword to Macpactor. 

After initial fluctuations, we’ve been able to secure a position 1 ranking for this search term. However, in the SEO world, there’s one 1 thing better than a position 1 ranking…

…that’s right, a position 1 and position 2 ranking! Not only dominating that top section of the Search Engine Results Page, where most clicks happen, but also appearing more credible to prospective customers. Needless to say, Macpactor was very happy.
